A Throwback to Older Days 3 by ~alecrene:iconalecrene:

i feel sorry for the critics
satisfaction escapes them

they cannot love
save for that girl from his childhood
or that movie he saw when he was twelve

they cannot appreciate
except for things
that take more thought
than they are worth

one critic likes the use of synecdoche
in act two
it illuminates the character’s
inherent subservience
he thinks

another critic thinks it’s just
a trick stolen from dickens
nothing special

they forget how to love
what they spend their life doing

I wrote this poem a year ago. You can see the definite change of style from three plus years ago to one year ago.
